It is always with the same emotion that I sign a new opus of my compositions, nervous as I am to share with you all their hues. In this picture garden (jardin d'images), I cultivate the imprints and the memories that inhabit my universe; my travels, my encounters, my souvenirs, my crushes, or simply my states of mind. When you listen to it, you will without a doubt see your own garden and images unfold in front of your eyes or in your mind. This is, I believe, the magic of music...
Pianist Alain Lefèvre and his brother David, violinist, meet at last in the intimate setting of the recording studio. They perform here two chamber music masterpieces of the 19th century, sonatas by César Franck and his disciple and friend, Guillaume Lekeu, and the first recording of André Mathieu's Ballade-Fantaisie.

« A gift from heaven! It's hard to believe that André Mathieu wrote his Concertino No. 2 at age 5 and a half (only the final cadenza was written some time later). Not only are we under the impression that the first movement was composed with the knowledge of Prokofiev's Concerto No. 3, but we must also remember that Mathieu did not grow up in a creative international environment, such as London or Paris... And yet, we are well aware of Mathieu's unique way of doing volte-face with new musical themes rather than exploring developments. For Alain Lefèvre, the Concertino is the second last piece in the monument that he has patiently built to the glory of Mathieu. The executable partition was produced by Gilles Bellemare-hence very well acquainted with this composer-and the result is splendid as always. Once again, we can only marvel at this work. The CD is completed in the same spirit with two lively and spiritual pieces brimming with semiquavers.»
